Welcome to “The Bayer Family” website dedicated to the Carnival of Venice, known in Italy as

“Il Carnevale di Venezia”.

We have been participating in the Carnival of Venice festivities for 20 years and would like to share pictures of our costume collection with you. This tradition of dressing up in Carnival masks and elaborate costumes started out as a hobby and has transformed into a passion.

The creative designer behind these masterpieces is Mary and her creativity, spirit, and eye for detail are applaused by tourists from all over the world who take pictures and pose with us.

We have been very fortunate and have met many international masquerade artists from all parts of the globe. We have showcased many costume creations on the stages of San Marco against the backdrop of the famous lagoon city.

We would like to express our gratitude to all of those who have shown an interest in Carnival and Venezia. Each contributor has a different style and delivery model .

This diverse family of artists makes each annual reunion a party and we    all enjoy meeting together because we are so different.

That which we share is a love of Venice.

We are happy to be a part of the tradition and positive creative energies in this magical city. We thank our many friends and photographers who have shared the joy and art of this celebration and its beautiful Carnevale with us.

Seit mehr als 20 Jahren nehmen wir in von Mary selbst entworfenen und angefertigten Phantasiekostümen am Karneval in Venedig teil.

Wer sich über Venedig allgemein und speziell über den Karneval in Venedig umfassend und unterhaltsam informieren möchte, der ist beim Internetauftritt von Helfried Mallow und Anke Wittmann an der richtigen Stelle. Die von ihnen aufgenommenen und gezeigten Fotos sprechen für sich. Hier geht es zu “Venedig pur”:

Es ist ein weit verbreiteter Irrtum, wenn behauptet wird, dass es vorwiegend Venezianer und vom Tourismus-Amt Bezahlte sind, die Kostüme tragen.

Es stimmt auch nicht, wenn behauptet wird, der Markusplatz böte während des venezianischen Karnevals nur einen Laufsteg für kommerzielle Interessen.

Tatsächlich kommen die Kostümierten, die sich zum überwiegenden Teil ihre Kostüme selbst ausdenken und diese selbst anfertigen, zu einem großen Teil aus dem Ausland und werden von keiner Seite in irgendeiner Form unterstützt.

Die Auftritte beim Karneval in Venedig in Maske und Kostüm sind ein Hobby, das sich bei uns und vielen anderen zu einer Leidenschaft entwickelt hat, die nur derjenige teilen kann, der schon einmal kostümiert in dieser herrlichen Stadt Venedig beim Carnevale war. Unser Dank gilt allen, die sich (mit und ohne Kamera) für uns interessiert haben und allen Maskenträgern, die mit dazu beitragen, dass sich Jahr für Jahr Tausende von Menschen aus aller Welt an diesem einzigartigen Ereignis in der Serenissima erfreuen.
